The
Cavalier
The cavalier is an alert and happy dog with a lot of will to please. It is a
soft and following dog that loves to be toghether with the family. This qualitys
makes the cavalier breed to an excellent obedience dog, that is very easy to
motivate. Many cavaliers has a well developed hunting and struggle instinct,
which makes the training easy, but at the same time you have to be careful and
look after the dog so it don't hunt everything. The will to please does that hard
corrections seldom is needed, and never in the obedience training but sometimes
in the everyday obedience,
even a delightful little cavalier MUST come directly when you call for example.
The cavalier loves to cuddle and be close, at home it's a
real lapdog that is easy to spoil through their soft way to be and their charming
temperament. But when it is about tracking, obedience and agility it is full
speed! I think that it lives much more working spirit in the most cavaliers
then their owners think. Of course a cavalier handle to be just a pet, but then you probably not see so much of the fantastic
joyful working spirit many cavaliers have. But when you have seen the luck a
cavalier radiate when it works, then you realize that this lovely little dog
both can and want to be both a cosy family dog and a capable working dog!
The cavalier is like the toller and the bernese a real life enjoying dog, that
really knows how to enjoy life!
